Numerical reasoning measures how quickly and accurately you read tables, graphs and percentages under time pressure. Most people can do the maths - the challenge is doing it fast. You are scored on accuracy first, then speed.
A typical test gives you 10 to 20 questions in 20 to 25 minutes, each built around a data table, chart or short block of figures. The recurring skills are percentage change (including reversing a percentage), ratios and proportions, currency conversion, and reading the right cell from a busy table. Almost every question can be answered with those handful of operations, so fluency with them is what separates a strong score from a rushed one.
The most common way people lose marks is not weak maths but poor pacing: they sink two minutes into one awkward table and then rush the rest.
